Microsoft! – Länkfunktionen borde vara avmarkerad som standard!!!
Eftersom länkar som tex “foto?? ha ha” är ett så utbrett bekymmer borde länkfunktionen i MSN Windows Live Messenger vara avmarkerad som standard. En enkel förändring för Microsoft som skulle bespara oss med lite halvtaskig impulskontroll massor med tid.

Att avaktivera länkfunktionen är enklare sagt än gjort…
Beroende på vilken version av MSN Windows Live Messenger du har så är det inte helt intuitivt hur man gör för att avaktivera länkfunktionen. I nya versionen av MSN Windows Live Messenger är menyraden dold som standard vilket är snyggt men inte så begåvat.

Så här avaktiverar du länkfunktionen i MSN Windows Live Messenger

Börja med att ta fram menyraden  ” Visa menyrad”

I verktygsmenyn väljer du “Alternativ”

I alternativmenyn avmarkerar du
“Tillåt länkar i konversationsfönster och i min kontaktlista”

MSN virus – Fyra sätta att skydda sig men bara ett som håller måttet
Det finns flera sätt att skydda sig mot MSN trojaner som tex “foto?? ha ha” men något som är gemensamt för de allra flesta är att det får bieffekter som gör att man undviker att använda dessa.

Det finns en “No script” funktion…
…i både Microsofts Windows Internet Explorer och Mozillas Firefox. Man blir belönad med högre säkerhet på nätet men konsekvensen blir dåligt fungerande webbsidor, eftersom även goda scripts stoppas.

Man kan skapa ett nytt användarkonto i Windows…
…med begränsad behörighet. Detta fungera kanske bra om man har yngre barn i familjen. Men knappast för oss tonårsföräldrar med datoröveraktiva tonåringar som ser det som helt otänkbart att inte ha full tillgång/kontroll över sin egen dator.

Sunt förnuft…
…borde ju fungera. Men som jag skrivit i tidigare inlägg så har två av fem familjemedlemmar drabbats av “foto?? ha ha”-trojanen och jag var själv mer än lovligt nära att klicka på länken som kom från dottern.

Det bästa sättet att skydda sig mot MSN trojaner som tex “foto?? ha ha” är att avaktivera länkfunktionen i MSN Windows Live Messenger. Länkar som tas emot presenteras då som text och är därmed inte klickbar. En grym funktion för oss med lite halvdålig impulskontroll..;)

Spyhunter – Savior or Judas?
It is tempting… The Medicine to get rid of IE AntiVirus 3.2 is just a mouse click away… Almost too good to be true, or what do you think?
After reading what others have experienced using Spyhunter, I was sceptical. Several users have had problems with the company withdrawing more money than shown in the information on the company’s website and almost impossible to come into contact with. Some argue that Spyhunter are leaving more junk than the program that it claims to be an expert to remove.

Manual removal of IE AntiVirus 3.2 – Does it work?
One thing that made me confused was that the websites that offer Spyhunter looks very similar. All have a guide on how to remove IE AntiVirus 3.2 manually. If I make a simple comparison between the logs from the Spyware which I used with the files recommended to remove, it is not many files that are the same. In addition, a manual remowal is risky business for the vast majority, but as I said Spyhunter is just a mouse click away…

IE AntiVirus 3.2 (getdefender2009) – How I removed the infection
I was initially unsure of what kind of infection it was. Quite quickly I established that my virus protection software did not find any infection, despite a deep scan. Then I tested a couple of Antispyware programs, “Spybot Search and Destroy” and “Super AntiSpyware” but to get rid of pop-up problems that I described in my previous post. It was after the scan with, “Malwarebytes Anti Malware” that I got rid of the problems. It is possible that it was a combination of the three, but it is difficult to determine afterwards.

Download Malwarebytes Anti Malware and the other programs mentioned above through DreamSpray.com and help other users by ranking the programs that you have experience of.

All programs are free for home users.

My son had downloaded a file from a Web page and received a popup-message which claimed that he´s computer was infected by a virus. He was ”invited” to download IE AntiVirus 3.2 (getdefender2009) for free, to remove the viruses. And as my son said, “Dad… I knew that we already had a antivirus software but I thought that two antivirus programs must surely be better than one… “.

If you chose to click “Yes”, the file ie-av.exe is downloaded and the software “IE AntiVirus 3.2″ is installed. Once installed you are asked to scan your computer for Virus / Spyware and not entirely unexpected the “IE AntiVirus 3.2″ finds a number of critical threats on your computer.

When you choose to remove Virus and Spyware, you get a message that you first have to buy the program for $ 50.

IE AntiVirus 3.2 (getdefender2009) – Virus / Malware infection or ”just” questionable business methods?
So far it just looks like you have come into contact with a company with highly questionable business methods. However, quite soon you realize that “IE Antivirus 3.2″ plays on the enemy team.

When you try to use the Windows Explorer / File Manager and clicks on a folder (any), you get a number of windows / popups making a fake virus scanning. “IE Antivirus 3.2″ again claims that you have a number of critical threats on your computer.

Ok, but how do I remove IE Antivirus 3.2 from the computer?
IE Antivirus 3.2 is installed with a neat feature to uninstall. Not surprisingly the uninstaller leave the infection untouched. If you Google IE Antivirus 3.2, you are recommended to use a Anti Spyware called SpyHunter to remove the infection.

In my next post I will explain why I avoided SpyHunter and how I removed IE Antivirus 3.2 from my sons computer.
